I bought this picture from Gabriel Brothers the other day.  I loved the frame and matting but hated the print.  Well, for 5.99 I figured it was worth it so I bought it.  I had no idea what to do with it.  After some thought I decided to put our last name initial in it.  I took it apart and added some scrapbook paper over the print and then used my Cricut to cut out some thin cardboard and then painted it with two different brown inks and one black.  Then I added some copper embossing powder to give it a metallic look.  I'm pleased with it but now have NO idea where to put it.  I guess I'll figure that out today.

Hope you have a fun project to work on today.  Enjoy,
Lisa

I don't want to be a minimalist

My father was a minimalist.  My mother was not.  Although very neat and clean, I never cared for the contemporary minimalist feel of my father's home, it never had the cozy warm feeling of my mother's home.  Unfortunately, I tend to take after my dad.  I do not have the knack of layering or adding several items to a table, shelf, etc.  I am very uniform and symmetrical and wish I wasn't.   I am linking up today to A Stroll Thru Life (84th Table Top Tuesday) as an attempt to come out of my box.   I hope you like my first attempt at a tablescape.  It was actually a little difficult for me.   The jar on the table was what I started with.  This has been the only thing on this table for a while.  I am so much happier with it the way it is now.

I just bought this yesterday at Gabriel Brothers.
It was a set of two but they only had one so I got a great deal.   I love it.

Have a happy Tuesday.

Front Porch All "Falled" Up

Sadly I removed the last of the summer flowers and other summer things off of my front porch and it looked so bare and lonely so I decided to add some fall to it.   It's only 49 degrees here in the panhandle of West Virginia so I didn't get as much done as I would have liked.   I think I'll finish at the end of the week when it returns to the 70s.  I've seen a couple blogs that have some lovely wreaths so I'll use those for inspiration and spend the next couple of days making one.

Hope you are having a nice Monday.

Yard Sale Finds

My community had a yard sale today and although I didn't find a ton of fun things, I found one thing I was looking for, a pencil tree,  YIPPIEEE.  I also found a flower arrangement, which wasn't in the best of shape but looked like it may have potential (my friend thought I was out of my mind for buying it).    After the yard sale we headed out to Hobby Lobby.  I am having a ton of fun at that store and have been there four times since it opened a couple weeks ago.  I bought a few things for the tree and with a pot I already had and some new flowers I redid the flower arrangement.    I still have to add some moss to the pot the tree is sitting in.  I'll finish that up tomorrow (after another round of the neighborhood to check out the yard sales that weren't able to set up today).

My yard sale finds.  Not bad for about ten bucks.

Can you really have too many roosters?

The other day I had several teenage boys in my house and one very observant one let me know that I had TWENTY FIVE roosters in my kitchen.  That's right 25!!  I had no idea.  I do love my roosters but all of a sudden I felt like I had too many of them.  So I took down three rooster plates I had hanging over my desk area and hung a new picture I got yesterday from Kirklands.  I liked it but all of a sudden my very large roo didn't match so I took him outside and with a can of spray paint transformed him and I now have a love of him all over again.  I am very happy with the change.

I love fall!!

I absolutely love fall.  Except for my allergies, fall is my favorite season.  I love the colors of fall and the warm temperatures too.  The last few days have been really warm here but I've still been in the mood for fall decorating.  I am hoping to get a little more done by the end of this week, after a trip, of course, to the newly opened Hobby Lobby (my most favorite decorating/craft store!!)  Hope to see you back here in a few days to check out more of my fall decor.

This is a picture of my fireplace.  I just love the stone, but I'm considering adding some trim to the top.  I haven't decided yet.  What do you think?  The curtains on either side will soon be replaced .

Don't you just love candy corn?

I love fall flowers.  I am tempted to keep this arrangement in here all year long.  The colors are much more vibrant in person.

This is my new pumpkin I picked up the other day at Hobby Lobby.

Well, that is the start of my fall decor.  I'll post some more pictures soon.

Have a wonderful day,
Lisa

I'm finally a blogger

Welcome to my blog.  I have been an admirer of many blogs for a long time and have finally made the commitment to become a blogger myself.  I really hope that you enjoy my blog and if you do I'd just love it if you would followed me.
